Explore Hiroshima & Miyajima - UNESCO World Heritage Sites

Hiroshima and Miyajima together form one of the most profound and unforgettable day trip itineraries in all of Japan — and both destinations reward deeply informed, thoughtful guidance.

Hiroshima is a city of extraordinary resilience. Its Peace Memorial Park and Museum stand as a powerful testament to the events of August 6, 1945, and to the determination of its people to rebuild and pursue a world free from nuclear weapons. As your private guide, Takuya Yanagisawa navigates this deeply significant site with sensitivity, historical knowledge, and respect — helping you understand not only the tragedy, but the remarkable human story of recovery that followed.

Beyond the Peace Park, Hiroshima offers a vibrant, modern city with excellent local cuisine — including hiroshimayaki, a regional style of okonomiyaki that is a point of fierce local pride — and a thriving waterfront culture that speaks to the city’s extraordinary revival.

Miyajima Island, a 45-minute speedboat ride directly from the Peace Park, is home to the iconic Itsukushima Shrine, whose famous floating torii gate appears to rise from the sea at high tide. It is one of Japan’s most recognizable images, and far more beautiful and serene in person than any photograph suggests. The island’s free-roaming deer, ancient cedar forests, and mountain hiking trails make it one of Japan’s most complete and immersive natural and cultural experiences.
