Do yourself a favor when visiting Japan and hire Takuya as a personal guide. We visited Japan on three occasions and every time we hired Takuya and had a wonderful time. We visited beautilful places off the beaten path, away from the very touristic areas. He really takes into account your personal interests when organising a trip and comes up with great ideas himself at the same time. Do not hesitate to hire him, you will not regret it!
Explore Hiroshima Private Tour — Peace Memorial & Miyajima
Hiroshima and Miyajima together form one of the most profound and unforgettable day trip itineraries in all of Japan — and both destinations reward deeply informed, thoughtful guidance.
Hiroshima is a city of extraordinary resilience. Its Peace Memorial Park and Museum stand as a powerful testament to the events of August 6, 1945, and to the determination of its people to rebuild and pursue a world free from nuclear weapons. As your private guide, I navigate this deeply significant site with sensitivity, historical knowledge, and respect — helping you understand not only the tragedy, but the remarkable human story of recovery that followed.
Beyond the Peace Park, Hiroshima offers a vibrant, modern city with excellent local cuisine — including hiroshimayaki, a regional style of okonomiyaki that is a point of fierce local pride — and a thriving waterfront culture that speaks to the city’s extraordinary revival.
Miyajima Island, a 45-minute speedboat ride directly from the Peace Park, is home to the iconic Itsukushima Shrine, whose famous floating torii gate appears to rise from the sea at high tide. It is one of Japan’s most recognizable images, and far more beautiful and serene in person than any photograph suggests. The island’s free-roaming deer, ancient cedar forests, and mountain hiking trails make it one of Japan’s most complete and immersive natural and cultural experiences.

See What My Previous Guests Say
Had two days tour with Takuya-San. One in Kyoto and another one in Nara. Both days were most enjoyable for me and my family of 6. He was very knowledgeable and very attentive to all our needs. He made all the sights come alive for us.
We spent the first day in Kyoto and the second in Nara and Osaka. Takuya showed us traditional sights as well as local life, and he offered us some opportunities to experience special things that we would not have known about had we chosen to go out on our own.
He provided an outstanding tour showing us the highlights of both cities, including the Nijo Castle in Kyoto and the Todai-Ji temple in Nara.
If you are traveling to Japan and are looking for a local that is fluent in English and that will be able to give you an inside look to amazing food, culture, history plus anything else you may want to know about the country, look no further. Takuya is the one for you.

Hiroshima Private Tour: History, Resilience and Island Beauty
A Hiroshima private tour is one of the most profound and moving experiences available in Japan. Hiroshima and the island of Miyajima — just thirty minutes away by ferry — together form one of the most compelling day tour combinations in the country: a city that has transformed unimaginable tragedy into a powerful message of peace, paired with one of Japan’s most iconic and beautiful Shinto shrines. As a nationally licensed guide interpreter, I guide this day with the care and context it deserves.
Every private tour of Hiroshima I lead is built around your interests and the pace you want to set. Whether you want to spend extended time at the Peace Memorial Museum, explore the quiet lanes of Miyajima Island, or combine both — I design the day around you.
Highlights of the Hiroshima Private Tour
- Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Museum — The epicenter of the atomic bombing of August 6, 1945, now transformed into a park of quiet reflection and a deeply moving museum. The A-Bomb Dome, the Children’s Peace Monument, and the Flame of Peace all carry extraordinary weight. The museum is one of the most important historical sites in the world, and I guide it with honesty and care.
- Miyajima Island — Reached by a fifteen-minute ferry crossing, Miyajima is home to Itsukushima Shrine, whose famous torii gate appears to float above the sea at high tide. The island is one of Japan’s three classic views and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Beyond the shrine, Miyajima offers mountain trails, traditional craft shops, and exceptionally fresh oysters and maple-leaf cakes.
- Itsukushima Shrine — Built over the water in the 12th century, the shrine complex is a masterpiece of Japanese architecture and one of the country’s most photographed landmarks. Timing the visit around the tides significantly changes the experience — something I plan for in advance.
- Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki — Hiroshima’s layered savory pancake is distinct from the Osaka version and considered by many to be superior. I know exactly where to go for the best version in the city.
Why Choose a Private Guide for Hiroshima and Miyajima
The Hiroshima private tour requires thoughtful pacing. The Peace Memorial Museum is emotionally demanding and deserves adequate time; the ferry to Miyajima has a schedule that needs to align with the rest of the day; the tidal timing at Itsukushima Shrine changes the entire visual experience. I handle all of these logistics so you can be fully present at each location.
I also bring the historical context that transforms the Peace Memorial from a sightseeing stop into a genuine encounter with one of the 20th century’s most significant events. My approach is measured and respectful — informative without being overwhelming, and always guided by what my guests want to understand and experience.
This tour is offered as a full-day trip and works well as part of a longer multi-day private tour of Japan. It pairs naturally with Okayama for a two-day western Japan itinerary. Hiroshima is accessible from Osaka in approximately ninety minutes by Shinkansen, making it an ideal day trip destination.
